Qatar Airways Group and Malaysia Aviation Group have strengthened their existing partnership as oneworld partners by recently entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Qatar Airways Cargo and MASkargo. MASkargo, a subsidiary of Malaysia Aviation Group, operates as a cargo airline. This collaboration aims to provide an improved range of services to cargo customers and foster operational synergies. It is worth noting that this MoU comes after the expanded codeshare agreement signed in 2022 between Qatar Airways and Malaysia Airlines, which aimed to enhance connectivity for their respective passengers.
Through this strategic collaboration in the cargo business, both airlines will utilize each other’s network strengths and fleet capacity to enhance their cargo services. MASkargo clients will benefit from Qatar Airways Cargo’s extensive global network, while Qatar Airways Cargo customers will gain access to the growing APAC market, including new destinations and increased capacity in existing stations.
Furthermore, the airlines will take advantage of both hubs, Hamad International Airport (DOH) and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL), as key points to support their combined network. This partnership is further supported by the planned expansion of Qatar Airways Cargo’s handling capabilities at its new and upgraded Cargo Terminal in Doha.
