Tourism Malaysia recently conducted a sales mission to Oman and Qatar from 12 to 15 May, as part of its strong commitment to strengthening tourism relations and presenting its newest attractions to the West Asian market. This initiative follows their successful participation in the Arabian Travel Market (ATM).

In 2024, Tourism Malaysia assembled a delegation of 23 representatives from Malaysia, including twelve travel agents, eight hoteliers, two product owners, and a representative from the State government. The delegation effectively showcased Malaysia’s captivating, enjoyable, motivating, enticing, calming, and thrilling tourism offerings.

The sales mission in Muscat and Doha facilitated targeted B2B sessions and networking dinners, fostering productive partnerships and knowledge exchange between Malaysian and local partners. In addition, formal briefings and presentations were conducted to further enhance the understanding of Malaysia’s tourism industry. The presence of H.E. Shaiful Anuar Mohammad, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia, Sultanate of Oman, and H.E. Zamshari Shaharan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia, State of Qatar added prestige to the event in their respective cities. It is worth noting that West Asian travelers consistently rank among the top five international spenders in Malaysia, demonstrating their high per capita expenditure and longer average stays.
