The WestJet Group has revealed its plans to purchase three more Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft from BOC Aviation Limited. These three planes are scheduled to be incorporated into the WestJet Group’s fleet and operations by 2024, once the leasing agreements have been finalized.
WestJet passengers will enjoy the increased capacity throughout the airline’s network, although the interior cabin experience of the aircraft will not be immediately aligned with the WestJet Group’s standards. The enhancement and refurbishment of the aircraft’s interior cabins will be given top priority as part of the airline’s ongoing fleet reconfiguration efforts, aiming to deliver a uniform experience for passengers across all operations promptly.
Mike Scott, Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of WestJet Group, emphasized the importance of expanding their fleet to achieve their ambitious growth strategy of offering affordable air travel to Canadians. He highlighted the significance of collaborating with a reliable partner such as BOC Aviation to help them reach their growth targets for 2024.
