Over the past six years, Sanya‘s tourism sector has experienced remarkable expansion. Tourism revenue has surged from 51.473 billion yuan in 2018 to 89.664 billion yuan in 2023, with overnight visitor numbers increasing from 18.31 million to over 25 million. This impressive growth highlights the city’s achievements in enhancing and broadening its tourism offerings.
For years, Sanya has made significant strides in transforming and enhancing its tourism, to turn the city into a hub for international tourism consumption. Sanya has capitalized on the current opportunities by adopting an innovative “Tourism+” approach, fostering a diverse industrial integration. The city has placed emphasis on cultivating 12 key sectors related to tourism, such as culture and sports, cruise ships and yachts, duty-free shopping, and medical and healthcare. Through a unique development trajectory, Sanya aims to cater to the diverse and specific preferences of its visitors, ensuring a dynamic tourism experience.
