In May, Ontario International Airport (ONT) saw a record-breaking number of passengers, with over 618,000 travelers passing through its gates. This marks the highest passenger count in a single month since the airport’s transition to local ownership in 2016, representing an 11% increase compared to the same month last year. The airport welcomed approximately 582,000 domestic passengers and over 36,000 international travelers in May, reflecting growth rates of 11.4% and 6.9%, respectively. From January to May, ONT served more than 2.6 million passengers in total, a nearly 10% increase from the same period in 2023. Domestic passenger numbers rose by 7.9% to exceed 2.4 million, while international passenger figures surged by 40.8%.
Atif Elkadi, the CEO of the Ontario International Airport Authority (OIAA), highlighted the remarkable achievement of Ontario International Airport in May, with record-breaking passenger volumes and sustained double-digit year-over-year growth. The airport is excited to anticipate the arrival of over 2 million travelers during the summer travel season, and is confident in surpassing 7 million passengers for the entire year.
