Southwest Airlines Executive VP Steps Down

Southwest Airlines Co. announced today that its Executive Vice President & Chief Legal & Regulatory Officer & Corporate Secretary is moving into an Executive Advisor role starting June 1.

EVP Mark Shaw has been with Southwest for around 24 years. During that time he was involved in the acquisition of AirTran Airways and AirTran Holdings as well as challenges that all airlines dealt with during the COVID pandemic.

Taking over for Shaw will be Jason Van Easton who currently holds the Senior VP and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer position at Southwest. When Van Easton takes over Shaw’s EVP position, he will be involved in regulatory policy and legislative oversight. In addition, he will be responsible for management of airline airport relationships, corporate security, planning of real estate, and maintenance and facility construction.

In another Southwest executive change, Vice President of Legal-Corporate & Transactions Jeff Novota will be promoted to VP General Counsel & Corporate Secretary.
