Czech Airlines Technics is broadening its range of services this fall by adding aircraft painting to its portfolio. The new paint shop in Hangar S at Václav Havel Airport Prague, which began construction in April, is expected to be finished by October. In response to the growing demand for this service, the Prague Airport subsidiary has invested 75 million crowns and aims to paint around 25 aircraft annually moving forward.
Hangar S, which spans across an expansive 2,100 square metres, commenced its operations in 2018 and has been dedicated to line maintenance ever since. In order to transform it into a paint shop, essential installations such as air conditioning and other required equipment will be implemented within the hangar. Following the completion of this reconstruction, a six-month trial operation will ensue, during which the competent authorities will meticulously assess the safety measures of the operation.
Throughout the primary maintenance period, Czech Airlines Technics primarily handles requests from customers such as Transavia, Austrian Airlines, and Finnair. In the year 2023, the company completed 76 base maintenance checks on B737, B737 MAX, A320 Family, and A321neo airplanes.
