WestJet CEO: Must Safeguard Affordability

The WestJet Group has recently published its inaugural progress report, titled Soaring Together, which highlights the airline’s achievements throughout Canada since the implementation of its growth strategy almost two years ago.

According to Alexis von Hoensbroech, the Chief Executive Officer of the WestJet Group, the company’s ambitious strategy has not only facilitated the expansion of their network but has also provided Canadians with more accessible travel options. This, in turn, has contributed to job creation, investment, and overall economic prosperity.

As the WestJet Group continues to enhance its services to better cater to its customers, it recognizes the importance of maintaining affordability. The company acknowledges the reliance of communities nationwide on their dependable and reasonably priced air service, and therefore, emphasizes the need to take necessary measures to ensure affordability moving forward.

“WestJet remains dedicated to upholding a transparent and cost-effective framework that encourages healthy competition and ensures optimal value for our esteemed passengers. However, we operate within a costly infrastructure environment where users bear the expenses, resulting in escalated ticket prices for the average Canadian and impeding fair competition,” von Hoensbroech further emphasized.
