Delta Air Lines is making significant strides in its international Wi-Fi deployment. Beginning this summer, passengers on certain long-haul international flights equipped with Viasat will have access to complimentary, high-speed Wi-Fi provided by T-Mobile. This initiative brings the airline closer to its objective of providing free Wi-Fi across its entire global fleet. Currently, nearly 700 aircraft—over 90% of Delta’s domestic mainline fleet—offer free, streaming-quality connectivity, and the airline anticipates that most customers will be able to utilize this service by the end of the year.
In order to meet the high standards of service that customers anticipate, Delta Airlines is implementing fast and complimentary Wi-Fi on its widebody aircraft equipped with Viasat technology, introducing it on a route-by-route basis. Additional routes will be incorporated as dependable, high-quality service becomes accessible.
This initiative reflects the strategy employed for domestic installations in 2022. As the free Wi-Fi service expands internationally, the international Wi-Fi portal will initially not require a SkyMiles login. Later this year, all aircraft equipped with Viasat Wi-Fi will transition to the personalized Delta Sync Wi-Fi experience, which will be accessible through customers’ SkyMiles memberships, providing exclusive onboard experiences and offers.
In the previous month, complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi was introduced on the majority of flights to and from France (CDG and NCE) at all U.S. airports. Looking forward, the airline projects the subsequent timeline.
